Preserve and Refresh: Support the MSU Union Quiet Study and Women’s Restroom Lounges

Help the MSU Union update the first-floor quiet study lounge (formerly known as the Women’s Lounge) and the additional lounge space next to the women’s restroom.

Originally built as a gathering space for students and alumni, the MSU Union has continually transformed to meet the changing needs of the campus community. Over the decades, the Union has undergone numerous expansions and renovations to keep pace with MSU’s growing campus and evolving student body.

Construction started in 1947 to build a south wing of the Union and relocate the Women’s Lounge from the first-floor southwest edge (current main concourse) to the southeast corner. In 2016, the women’s lounge was reconstructed and turned into an all-gender study area and a renovated women’s restroom added a small lounge space and rooms for nursing mothers, now personal health rooms.

This project exists to ensure the preservation of not only the physical space, but its history, as an important piece in the evolution of the union.

Your support will make a big difference and help preserve the quiet study lounge and women’s restroom lounge.

The project will preserve these historical spaces with classic furniture pieces and updated décor that will continue to be a second home for Spartans working towards their degree. A comfortable, quiet space they can count on!
