Week-long festivities for students, alum, and community
The MSU Union has always been a popular spot for nostalgia, with alumni returning to campus each homecoming season — children and grandchildren in tow — to visit the iconic building and share stories of the old cafeteria or Multicultural Center. Students and community members too come to take pictures with Bronze Sparty, hang out in the famed MSU Union Lounge or simply to buy some new gear in the Spirit Shop. This year, the 2025 Homecoming Week has arrived at Michigan State University, and the MSU Union is officially the MSU Alumni Association’s Homecoming Headquarters, with something for everyone to do each day.
Homecoming Headquarters
Visit Homecoming Headquarters at the MSU Union all week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to pick up free Homecoming giveaways, green lights so you can Glow Green*, meet the Homecoming Court and take part in special Spartan events, leading to the MSU Homecoming Parade Friday, Oct. 10.
On Friday, visitors can step onto the Sublime 360 photo booth with friends and capture a fun, fast-paced video that shows off your Spartan spirit! Then, catch a great view of the parade at 6 p.m. The parade is a beloved annual tradition, bringing all Spartans together to celebrate with the Spartan Marching Band, Michigan high school bands, MSU campus groups, community and alumni organizations, famous Spartan figures, university leaders and the best mascot in all the land!
*The MSU Alumni Association is also encouraging the community to Glow Green all Homecoming week — on campus or afar — by lighting up your space with any green lights to show your Spartan pride.
Centennial Celebrations
The MSU Union will be hosting two special homecoming events in celebration of our 100th anniversary!
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, join us from noon–1 p.m. to enjoy a free scoop of Centennial Cookie Jar Ice Cream, a special collaboration between the MSU Union and MSU Dairy Store. Additionally, visitors can get their hands on the official MSU Union Centennial Pin — a special collector’s item.
The next day, Oct. 8, the MSU Union will be giving away free custom Centennial Celebration milk and dark chocolate bars.
Exclusive Spartan Spirit Shop Special Tartan Collection
Inside the Spartan Spirit Shop, visitors can check out the MSU Union Centennial Spartan Tartan Collection. This Tartan pattern was uniquely created to honor the 100th anniversary. Celebrate this momentous occasion with green and white tartan accessories and accompanying the official Centennial Celebration branding. This collection is available exclusively at the Spartan Spirit Shop.
